Electrolux EL4300B Product Review

Electrolux EL4300B with attachments

For this review, we tested the Electrolux EL4300B UltraActive DeepClean canister vacuum cleaner on bare floors, upholstery, Berber rug, shag rug, and some low-pile commercial carpeting. At first, we were impressed by its striking red and black color scheme, bungee cord hose wrap and canister bumper, and compact design. As we used it, we found that there was more to like about this vacuum cleaner than just its presentation.

The assembly process for this vacuum was quick and simple. All we had to do was attach its extension hose, cleaning wand, and power nozzle to each other and to the canister, and we were ready to go. Because the EL4300B is bagless, we didn't have to worry about whether we had spare bags on hand or whether one was properly inserted in the machine. All we had to do was plug it in and go.

This vacuum uses Soft Connect Technology for a quiet startup. With this technology, a very short delay occurs between the pressing of the power switch and the motor reaching full power. It is not uncommon for powerful vacuum cleaners to have equally powerful noise outputs. However, we discovered that even on its highest suction setting, the EL4300B is remarkably quiet.

The EL4300B comes with Electrolux's EL43000A UltraActive power head, which is easily one of the most capable nozzles we've used. This power nozzle's headlight automatically turns on when the brushroll is activated, illuminating our cleaning path to ensure that our rugs were as clean as possible. Foot pedals on the back of the nozzle recline the power nozzle's free-standing neck for added maneuverability and adjust brushroll height for cleaning different surface types. A sliding switch on its handle is all that is needed to activate or deactivate the brushroll. While brushrolls are great for deep-cleaning carpeting, it is recommended that you turn them off while on bare floors to reduce the risk of surface damage. Luckily, this handle switch makes it easy to transition between different surface types.

Aside from the power nozzle, the EL4300B comes with a crevice tool and dusting brush, both of which store easily under its handle for easy access while cleaning. Its nimble bare floor brush is an excellent alternative to the power nozzle for agitating dirt from the cracks and crevices in tile and hardwood floors. Its upholstery tool features a perforated top for increased airflow, ensuring that this tool won't get caught on your textiles and upholstery while you clean. This range of attachments makes the EL4300B a versatile cleaning machine that is ready to tackle a wide range of surfaces.

Electrolux EL4300B dustcup and filterThe EL4300B features a large capacity, clear dustcup that allowed us to see at a glance what we had collected. When the vacuum is running, we could also see the EL4300's cyclonic technology in action; the debris we were gathering spun a few times before settling at the bottom of the dustcup. This clear configuration also let us see when it needed emptying, and a diagram on the back clearly showed us how to go about this. We simply slid the side panel down and released the debris into the trash without incident. The EL4300B's clean disposal system even impressed our dust-sensitive reviewer, who tends to be wary of bagless models for the allergens they can throw. This was not a problem with the EL4300B.

Also on the dustcup is a washable filter, which can be easily detached for maintenance. In addition to being more environmentally-friendly, washable filters result in lower maintenance costs than their disposable counterparts.

For storage, the EL4300's bungee cord can hold its hose on top of the canister. Simply detach the cleaning wand and power nozzle from the hose, wrap up the extension hose on the canister, and secure it with the bungee cord. If you prefer to keep your EL4300B fully assembled while in storage, its power nozzle is free standing. This means that this vacuum does not need the support of a wall or furniture to stand upright while in storage. Either way you choose, this powerful bagless canister will be ready to clean again whenever you are.
