After more than a century of service to the vacuum and appliance repair industry, Essco has announced it will be discontinuing operations.
In a notice dated January 29, 2026, Essco informed customers that the company will wind down its business over the next three months. During this transition period, Essco will continue to accept orders for products currently in stock.
Founded over 101 years ago, Essco has long been a familiar and trusted name in the industry, supplying parts, accessories, and products to independent dealers and service centers across the country. For many retailers and technicians, Essco was more than a distributor—it was a reliable partner that supported small businesses through decades of change in the vacuum and floor care market.
A Significant Moment for the Industry
Essco’s closure marks the end of an era. Over the years, the industry has undergone major shifts, including consolidation among manufacturers, changes in consumer buying habits, and the rise of e-commerce. Independent distributors like Essco played a critical role in keeping local repair shops competitive and well-supplied.
The loss of a distributor with this level of history and institutional knowledge will be felt across the dealer network, particularly by long-time customers who relied on Essco for hard-to-find parts, personal service, and industry expertise.
