Just purchased a
Sanitaire commercial upright? Read on through our step by step guide on how to put it all together! This how-to was created with the
Sanitaire SC888K, but the same process should be applicable to similar models.
1. Inventory of Parts
When you first open your eVacuumStore shipment, you are going to be greeted with an array of parts. You have a upper handle, a lower handle, two sets of 2-part bolts, a lower and upper plastic cord wrap, two screws that attach the 9.5 quart Allergen bag to the vacuum motorhead, and lastly a dual zipper connector that allows users to easily open and close up the bag when it needs to be changed.
2. Attach Lower Steel Nozzle Wand
Insert the lower steel nozzle wand into silver circular opening on the motor head.
3. Align Holes and Attach 2-Part Bolt
Align the hole on the lower wand with the hole on the small silver circular wand attached to the motor head. Once the holes are aligned, use a 2-part bolt to fuse together the two parts. You can either use a Phillips screwdriver or your hands to twist the bolt in place.
4. Attach Upper Handle to Lower Wand
Insert the upper handle into lower wand. Make sure the ergonomic handle is pointed away from the motorhead. If you cannot comfortably grip this handle post-assembly, you have the part pointing in the wrong direction.
5. Align Holes and Attach 2-Part Bolt
Align the holes on the upper handle with the holes on the lower steel wand. Once the holes are aligned, use a 2-part bolt to fuse together the two parts. You can either use a Phillips screwdriver or your hands to twist the bolt in place.
6. Insert Power Cord Into Lower Cord Hook
Both the upper and lower plastic cord hooks have a crevice shaped like a cylinder that is approximately 0.25 inches wide. The 50 ft power cord is made to fit into this crevice.
7. Attach Lower Cord Hook to Lower Handle
The lower cord hook is manufactured with a plastic notch in the shape of an upside down "L". This notch is designed to fit into the upside down "L" opening etched into the lower handle. Once these two parts meet, you simply wrap the plastic hook around the handle until the second notch meets up with hollow opening on the other side of the lower handle. When you hear a loud snap, you know the cord hook is securely in place.
8. Insert Power Cord Into Upper Cord Hook
Same as with the lower cord hook, the upper cord hook has a crevice shaped like a cylinder that is approximately 0.25 inches wide. The 50 ft power cord is made to fit into this crevice. Only this time, the spring on the electrical cord should be incorporated into this step.
9. Attach Upper Cord Hook to Upper Handle
Same as the lower cord hook, the upper cord hook is manufactured with a plastic notch in the shape of an upside down "L". This notch is designed to fit into the upside down "L" opening etched into the upper handle. Once these two parts meet, you simply wrap the plastic hook around the handle until the second notch meets up with the hollow opening on the other side of the upper handle. When you a heap a loud snap, you know the cord hook is securely in place.
10. Attach Lower Portion of Outer Bag
On the backside of the motorhead, you should see a slanted yet rectangular opening where the 9.5 quart Allergen bag is supposed to connect to the rest of the vacuum. To fuse these two parts together, Sanitaire provides you with two screw that must be inserted into the aligned holes on the outer bag flange and base. Use a Philips screwdriver for this step. Once done, gently pull on the bag to ensure that it's securely in place.
11. Attach Bag Spring Onto Bag Support Hook
The bag spring is attached to the top of the red allergen bag. The freestanding hook is meant to latch onto the bag support hook that is incorporated into the design of the upper cord hook. Once fastened, you should hear a loud snap that lets you know that the bag is securely attached.
*Side Note: The Sanitaire logo should be visible when looking at the vacuum straight-on. If you see two white zippers, you have the bag put on backwards.
12. Attach Dual Zipper Connectors
The dual zipper connectors allows you to easily open and close the outer bag when the disposable bag needs to be changed. Insert one clip on the end of the dual zipper connector through the eyelet of one white zipper on the backside of the bag. Repeat this step with the second clip and white zipper.
13. Manually Wrap Power Cord
Wrap the 50 ft power cord around the upper and lower cord hooks.
