Why limit your spring cleaning to the house? If you're a car wash or gas station owner, consider making car wash vacuum maintenance part of your seasonal cleaning ritual. Taking proper care of your car wash vacuum can help to prolong its life and even improve its performance, and that can lend itself to more satisfied customers. To help you get started, we've compiled a list of steps that will help you keep your vacuum in tip-top shape for the year ahead.

- Test out the motors. If your unit's suction power is not as powerful as it should be, it may be time for anupgrade. We recommend replacing all of the vacuum cleaner's motors at the same time so they wear evenly over time. To prolong the life of the motors, consider replacing the motor brushes as they begin to wear.

- Check the gaskets and make sure the system is tightly sealed. A compromised seal can lead tocompromised airflow and premature wear and tear. Replace your motor gaskets, bushing gaskets, anddoor gaskets asneeded to protect internal components from potentially damaging dirt and debris.

- Change the filter bag. Filter bags are designed to keep dirt out of thevacuum's motor housing.Propercare and maintenance of these bags will ultimately prolong the life of your vacuum's motors. The 8076 and 8072 models are washable, but we recommend keeping a spare set on hand so you can continue using your vacuum while they dry.

- Inspect the hose for cracks, splits, and other damage. A damaged hose can compromise air flow and performance. If the standard 15-foot J.E. Adams extension hose is too short for your customers' needs, we carry replacement hoses in 25- and 50-foot lengths as well. If your vacuum could use an additional pop of color, some of these hoses are available in your choice of colors.

- Upgrade your accessories, or add some new ones to your arsenal. We carry claw tools, crevice tools, and other attachments that will help your customers clean all the nooks and crannies in their cars. We also carry dirt bins. With one of these in your vacuum, you'll be able to empty it of dirt and debris without scooping. Simply lift out the dust bin and empty its contents into the trash.

- Replace faded domes or decals. Adding a bright new decal or dome will give your vacuum a nice pop of colorand catch the eyes of potential customers. The rectangular, peninsular, or round plastic domes are available in a range of colors. If you would prefer a metallic one, we also carry round 20- and 24-inch stainless steel domes.
