We can confidently say that the Brilliant is the most opulent vacuum cleaner we've reviewed thus far. Two strips of LED lights on the underside of its canister light up during cleaning to illuminate dirt and debris on the floor, and can also illuminate the area around the canister during storage. When it's being stored, the lights stay on for thirty seconds without the use of batteries.
We discovered that this vacuum does not automatically start running once its canister power switch is pressed, and that the handle controls must be used to start its motor. While this may seem strange or inconvenient, it actually saves your floors and the Brilliant's brusholl from undue wear and tear.
The Brilliant's whisper-quiet slow startup feature is designed to prolong the life of its motor. It also makes for a very pleasant vacuuming experience; the Brilliant is quiet enough that we could hold a conversation while cleaning. A series of buttons on its handle allows for easy transitioning between different floor types, and a handy display above the buttons clearly shows the type of surface each suction setting is suitable for.Conveniently, the Brilliant also comes with attachments that will help you clean just about any surface across your home. As we mentioned earlier, the low-profile SEB236 Electro Premium power nozzle features five different height adjustment settings (these can be changed using the pedal on the back of the nozzle) that can used to clean hardwood and other bare floors, low-pile carpeting, and even deep shag carpeting. When the power nozzle is engaged, an LED light on its front illuminates dirt in your path. Swap out the power nozzle for the Miele's SBB400-3 Parquet Twister XL floor brush, and you'll be able to clean crevices in hardwood and tiles floors with ease. For above-the-floor cleaning, the Brilliant also includes a crevice nozzle, upholstery tool, and dusting brush, all of which store handily under the hood.
Under the tool storage compartment is an easy-access bag and filter chamber. The included SF-HA50 HEPA filter is designed to capture 99.99% of dirt, debris, and other particles down to 0.3 microns in size, and the Brilliant's 100% gasket-sealed system ensures that none of these particles can escape. Larger particles are easily trapped in the Brilliant's impenetrable six-ply dustbag, which can hold an astonishing five to eight pounds of dirt and debris.
The Brilliant is aptly named: it is meticulously engineered, beautifully styled, and is undoubtedly the pinnacle of Miele's line of impeccably designed vacuum cleaners.
