We recently had the opportunity to test the Miele CM6110 Countertop Coffee System for ourselves, so we sidelined our vacuums while we took a coffee break.
The CM6110 was ready to brew right out of the box. All we had to do was add water to the reservoir and pour some whole beans into the container. The CM6110 does have a chute for small amounts of coffee grounds, but we recommend using whole beans whenever possible. The adjustable dispenser spout can be extended forsplatter-free filling of espresso mugs and other small vessels or shortened for mugs up to six inches tall. It also features two dispenser spouts, allowing users the option of brewing two beverages at the same time.
A welcome pack containing cleaning tabs, water hardness test strips, a pipe cleaner brush, and descaling tablets is included with the unit. We did not get to use any of these materials during our test because the CM6110's self-rinsing feature took care of all the cleaning for us. The unit uses the water in its reservoir to clean its pipework before and after brewing, so users are guaranteed that every cup of coffee is as clean as possible.

The CM6110's most remarkable feature is its capability to register and remember up to fourdifferentuserprofiles. Once a profile was created and named, buttons on the CM6110's soft-touch electronic control panel allowed us to adjust portion size, coffee content, brew temperature, and more. These profiles also offered us the option of assigning a type of drink—macchiato, cafe lungo, and others—that can be brewed with just the touch of a button. Once these parameters are set, all we had to do was select a profile and that person's drink would be dispensed. We can imagine that this feature will come in especially handy in households with multiple coffee drinkers.
After brewing a few cups, we concluded that the Miele CM6110 Countertop Coffee System is not for the casual coffee drinker. This high-end machine is perfect for cappuccino connoisseurs and espresso enthusiasts who want cafe-quality beverages without leaving the house.
