Owner's Manual| Miele Complete C3 Brilliant Canister Vacuum
Miele Complete C3 vacuum maintenance may seem tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be a pro in no time. We’ve provided these tips from the Miele Complete C3 owner’s manual so you can keep your Miele C3 vacuum in great shape!
When to Change the Filter Bag
When the airflow indicator fills the display in red, it’s time to change the filter bag. The airflow indicator is located just below where the hose connects to the canister. Note: filter bags are disposable and should only be used once. Do not attempt to reuse or you’ll reduce your vacuum’s suction power.
How to Change the Filter Bag
To change your filter bag, press the release button on your vacuum and lift the dust compartment lid up until it clicks into place. The filter comes with a flap that automatically seals to keep dust contained within the bag.
Grasp the finger grip to take the old filter bag out of the compartment, and insert the new bag into the blue holder as far as it will go. (Don’t unfold the bag when you take it out of the box). Wait until after you’ve inserted the bag into the compartment before you unfold it. Close the lid for the dust compartment until it clicks into place, but make sure you don’t catch the filter bag on the lid.
When to Change the Dust Compartment Filter
Always change the dust compartment filter when you start a new box of Miele filter bag filters. A new dust compartment filter is included in every box of Miele filter bags.
How to Replace the Dust Compartment Filter
Open the lid of the dust compartment and grasp the finger grip to pull the filter bag out of the filter bag holder. Open the blue filter frame. When it clicks into place, use the clean corner to take the dust compartment filter out.
Put the new dust compartment filter in and close the filter frame. Put the new filter bag as far as it’ll go into the blue holder, and close the lid of the dust compartment until it clicks into place.
When to Change the Exhaust Filter
There are three types of filters used on Miele vacuums, and different guidance for each type.
The AirClean (a) exhaust filter should be changed every time you open a new box of Miele filter bags.
The two other types are the Active AirClean 50 (black, also known as the Active AirClean 50 b) and the HEPA AirClean 50 (white, also known as the HEPA AirClean 50 c). The indicator light will come on after about 50 hours of operation. (This is equal to about one year of average use.) The display of the exhaust filter change indicator will be completely red to indicate that it’s time to change the filter. (You can still use the vacuum after the light comes on, but performance and suction power will suffer.)
If you’d like, you can use an AirClean (a) exhaust filter instead of the Active Airclean 50 b or the HEPA Airclean 50 c. See below for info on how to exchange exhaust filters.
How to Replace the AirClean Exhaust Filter
Before you begin, ensure that just one exhaust filter is inserted into the frame. Open the lid for the dust compartment and press the release for the filter frame. Open it until it clicks, then grasp one of the two clean corners to remove the used filter.
If you are installing an Active AirClean 50 filter or HEPA AirClean 50 filter, you’ll need to pay attention to the care instructions under “Exchanging Exhaust Filters” as you insert a new AirClean exhaust filter. Close the filter frame and dust compartment lid until the lid clicks into place.
How to Change the Active AirClean 50 or HEPA AirClean 50 Exhaust Filter
Make sure there is only one exhaust filter inserted into the frame. Open the dust compartment lid and lift the filter to remove it. Install a new one and press it downward, then push the exhaust filter change indicator. After 10-15 seconds, you will see a red marker on the left side of the display. (If you’re installing an AirClean exhaust filter, see the care instructions under “Exchanging Exhaust Filters.”) Close the lid for the dust compartment until it clicks into place.
Exchanging Exhaust Filters
Ensure there is just one exhaust filter inserted in the frame.
There are three types of exhaust filters:
a AirClean Filter
b Active AirClean 50 (black)
c HEPA AirClean 50 (white)
If you replace filter a with filter b or c, remove the filter frame before you insert the new filter type. You also need to activate the exhaust filter change indicator.
If you replace filter b or c with filter a, place the new filter into the filter frame.
Service Indicator with Reset Button
After 50 hours of operation (or about a year of average use), the indicator light will come on. If this happens, check if the motor protection filter and exhaust filters need to be replaced. If so, replace them and reset the indicator.
To do this, turn on the vacuum and press the reset button. The service indicator light will turn off and then be reset to its original position. This will only work if the indicator light has already come on, not if the reset button has been pushed between filter changes.
