Floor Pads
Find the right floor pads and pad drivers for your floor machine, buffer, or auto scrubber. We carry replacement scrubbing, buffing, polishing and burnishing pads plus pad holders from IPC Eagle, Sanitaire and Oreck, so you can strip, clean or shine VCT, LVT, tile, marble, concrete and other hard floors with the same machine. Not sure which pad fits? Call our team at 866-972-8227 and we'll match the pad size and type to your machine.
Floor Pad Color Guide
Most commercial floor pads are color-coded by how aggressive they are. Darker pads cut harder; lighter pads polish. Colors vary a little by brand, so always check the product details.
| Pad Color | Job | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Black / Brown | Stripping | Removing old wax and floor finish |
| Green | Heavy scrubbing | Deep cleaning before recoating |
| Blue | Medium scrubbing | Routine wet scrubbing and auto scrubbers |
| Red | Buffing / cleaning | Daily cleaning and spray buffing |
| White / Beige | Polishing | Restoring shine on finished floors and marble |
| Tan / Natural / Hair | Burnishing | High-gloss finish with high-speed burnishers |
Pad Drivers and Pad Holders
A pad driver (also called a pad holder) attaches the floor pad to your machine and keeps even pressure across the floor. We stock replacement Sanitaire pad drivers in 15- and 17-inch sizes and Oreck Orbiter pad holders. Match the driver to your machine's model and brush size, and replace it when the gripper face wears smooth and pads start to slip.
How to Choose the Right Floor Pad
- Pad size: Match the pad diameter to your machine (13", 17" and 20" are the most common for rotary floor machines).
- Machine speed: Standard-speed buffers (around 175–350 RPM) use stripping, scrubbing and buffing pads. High-speed burnishers need pads rated for high RPM.
- Floor type: Use the least aggressive pad that gets the job done, especially on marble, stone and LVT.
- Brand fit: Orbital machines like the Oreck Orbiter use their own pad shape and holder, so buy pads made for that machine.
Floor Pad FAQs
Are floor pads universal?
No. Pads come in different diameters and are rated for different machine speeds. Check your machine's pad size and RPM before ordering.
How often should I replace floor pads?
Replace a pad when it's noticeably thinner, torn, clogged with soil, or no longer cleans or shines evenly. Many pads can be rinsed and reused several times before that.
What's the difference between buffing and burnishing?
Buffing uses a standard-speed machine and a red or white pad to clean and shine. Burnishing uses a high-speed machine and a softer pad to create a deeper, wet-look gloss.
Do I need a pad driver to use floor pads?
Yes. Most rotary floor machines need a pad driver to hold the pad. If your machine came with a brush only, add a matching pad driver first.
