These pipe straps are sized, such that they'll hold standard 2" pipe up against framing boards. And these pipe straps do that very well. No one can design a pipe strap that will adjust for spacing when the 2" pipe is or is not attached to nearby fittings... But as a practical matter, these clamps do not have to be screwed down so tight, such that the base of each clamp is smack up against the board. You only need to tighten your attachment screws to the point where the 2" pipe is snugly held in place, and that happens even when the base of clamps is not smack up against the board.

The pipe straps are a waste of money. The pipe has to be snug against the board in order for the strap to reach and that just doesn't happen with fittings nearby. We improvised with strapping and wire staples.
