Frequently asked questions

What is a quiet decibel level for a vacuum?

Most vacuums run at 70 to 80 dB. A vacuum rated 65 dB or less is noticeably quieter, and one under 60 dB is quieter than a normal conversation. Every 10 dB drop sounds about half as loud.

What is the quietest vacuum cleaner?

The Numatic PSP380 (47 dB) and PPR380 (47–49 dB) canisters are the quietest vacuums we sell. For home use, the SEBO Airbelt E1 Kombi and E2 Turbo are rated 58 dB.

Are canister vacuums quieter than uprights?

Usually, yes. Canisters keep the motor in an insulated body on the floor, away from your ears. Most of the quietest models here are canisters.
