The collected dirt, debris and other particles travel to the unit via the Nutone vacuum hose and are stored inside the vacuum bag located inside the machine. The bags for this brand of central vacuum typically hold six to eight gallons of dirt and debris and signal the user when they need to be changed. There is also a special shut off feature that prevents the bags from bursting when they are full, but cleaning is still in process.
