This Bissell air purifier is one of the best air purifiers on the market. Its HEPA air filter captures at least 99.97% of 0.3 micron particles and smaller, and the Smart CirQulate System kicks on whenever your home’s air quality decreases. And it constantly monitors the air quality levels as well, and uses a color-coded system to let you know whether the indoor air quality is good, moderate or poor. It is CADR rated to cover 432 square feet, making it great for indoor living spaces of many sizes.

This air purifier is equipped with more than a HEPA air filter. Its three stage filtration system also uses an activated carbon filter to absorb common odors and VOCs, and a pre-filter for catching larger debris such as pet hair and dander. It has a brushless, digital DC motor that provides long lasting and powerful performance. Its simple button controls allow you to adjust fan speed, set timers and reset filters.

To keep your air400 working properly, air filters should be replaced every 6 months, or when the triangles on the control panel light up. “Filter 1” is the activated carbon filter, while “Filter 2” refers to the HEPA air filter with a pre-filter. The two filters come as a set when you order them.

To replace the filters, first turn off the air400 and unplug it. Open the front of the air filter and lift the front panel up and away from the air purifier. Both the filters have blue pull tabs for easy removal, so simply pull on the tabs to remove the pre-HEPA filter and the carbon filter. Replace the carbon filter, ensuring that the blue tabs are facing outward. Next, insert the HEPA and pre-filter, ensuring that the blue tabs are facing outward and that the pre-filter is facing outward as well. Replace the front panel, plug in and turn on the air purifier. Press and hold the filter reset button for three seconds to resume use.
