Description

Why does my electrolux vacuum keep shutting off?

If your vacuum cleaner keeps saying the bag is full, and it is not, you can first try adjusting the dial on the top of the vacuum cleaner to see id that helps. If it does not you will need to change the internal part called the control valve, which is the automatic bag full sensor located just below the dial on top of the vacuum cleaner. If you need instructions on opening the canister, please see the link below. This is a replacement part.

This control valve solved my problem with the cleaner shutting off. Machine works great now 👍.

Old Electrolux 5500 started shutting off as soon the the vacuum suction hit any resistance. Read many reviews and trouble shooting opinions as to what was causing this malfunction. Concluded the old control valve was the culprit. Turned out I was right. Ran into some difficulty removing and installing the two side rails. Wound up spraying some silicone spray on the ends of the rails to help get them loose and off. Cleaned them and the plastic vacuum halves good before reassembling because I don’t think it hadn’t been since it left the factory. New control valve appears to be identical to the original. Note: The control valve adjustment **** must be removed from the body before reassembly. It’s the last part to go back on. Be mindful to align the raised “key” in the control valve with notch in the **** and press or tap it back on.

It didn't fix my problem, but it's not their fault. If you get "full bag" light all the time, be aware that this part may (or may not) fix your problem. In my case, there was a problem with the vacuum sensor mounted with the electrical switch board. After replacing this control valve and not having success, I called eVacuum's tech support and they helped me figure out the real problem. Unfortunately, the real problem can't be fixed because the part for my model (Epic 6000) is no longer available anywhere. They told me how to bypass the sensor so the vacuum works but it won't detect full bag. MY ADVICE: Call eVacuum's tech support FIRST before ordering this part. They were very helpful.

Control valve arrived on time but was defective. I had to go to my local dealer to buy one of their control valves to fix the vacuum. Store manager Dave handled the matter professionally and promptly refunded my full payment. I've done business with these folks before with excellent results on parts ordered and will continue to do business with them because of great customer service! Lonnie Miller
