⚠️ Geared vs. flat belt? Look at the brush roll pulley inside the nozzle. If it has teeth, you need this geared belt. If it's smooth, you need a flat belt. Call us at 866-972-8227 and we'll confirm before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my Electrolux power nozzle belt is broken?
The most common signs: the brush roll has completely stopped spinning while the motor is running, or you can see a snapped or melted belt when you flip the nozzle over. To check, turn the vacuum off and try to spin the brush roll by hand — if it spins freely with no resistance, the belt is likely broken or has slipped off the pulley.
How do I find the model number of my Electrolux power nozzle?
Turn the power nozzle upside down. The model number is on a sticker on the bottom or rear of the housing — it will read PN5, PN6, or PN7. If the label is worn, PN5 and PN6 nozzles have a distinctive L-shaped profile from the side. Can't find it? Call us at 866-972-8227 with your vacuum model number and we'll identify the right belt for you.
My power nozzle is making a loud noise — is the belt the problem?
Squealing or squeaking — the belt is glazed or worn and slipping on the pulley. Replacing the belt usually fixes this. Grinding or rattling — likely debris wrapped around the brush roll ends, or worn bearings. Rhythmic thumping or banging — the brush roll itself may be bent or damaged. Inspect the brush roll before assuming the belt is the only issue.
I can smell burning rubber from my power nozzle — what's causing it?
A burning smell almost always means the belt is overheating because the brush roll is jammed. Hair, string, or debris wrapped tightly around the brush roll prevents it from spinning, causing the belt to slip and generate heat. Turn the vacuum off immediately, clear any debris from the brush roll, then inspect the belt. If it's melted, stretched, or glazed — replace it before running the vacuum again.
How often should I replace this belt?
Inspect every 6–12 months under normal household use — more frequently with pets or heavy carpet. The geared belt on PN5, PN6, and PN7 nozzles is more durable than a flat belt and typically lasts 1–3 years. Replace immediately if you notice reduced performance, unusual noise, or a burning smell.
Can I install this belt myself?
Yes — this is a straightforward 10-minute DIY repair. You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the brush roll access plate on the bottom of the nozzle. Slip the old belt off the drive shaft, route the new belt onto the shaft and brush roll pulley, reinstall the brush roll, and replace the plate. A step-by-step video is available on the eVacuumStore YouTube channel.
What if a new belt doesn't fix the brush roll?
Confirm the belt is correctly seated on both the motor drive shaft and the brush roll pulley. If it's installed correctly and the brush roll still won't turn, bearings, pulley, electrical contacts, or the nozzle motor may be faulty.
