NO. OCS crystals have absolutely no odor of their own, nor does it leave any scent after use unless you choose our scented version. Since the crystals do not affect chemical odors, you choose between scented or unscented. The scent will remain in the room at the same time it's removing unwanted odors.

No problem. OCS crystals may be aookues ti wet, or even flooded, carpets. Water is more a friend than a foe to OCS. The crystals are used in the plumbing and aquarium industries underwater. When plumbers go out on a sewer backup call, the crystals are sprinkled directly onto raw sewage. OCS immediately begins eliminating odors from both the sewer water and the room environment. By the time the plumbers leave, odors are usually all gone.

The crystals are sold to pet stores and aquariums in a gravel form to cover aquarium floors. OCS eliminates ammonia in the water tank caused by fish urine.

NO. It may get a little dusty when applying OCS, however, it is a heavy dust and will not linger long in the air. Using the recommended amount causes very little dust, which settles in a matter of minutes. Breathing OCS dust will not harm humans or pets, even if exposed for long periods.

YES. Although OCS works very well in most cold environments such as refrigerators, freezers, and cold storage rooms, it loses in charge in temperatures below 40℉. This loss of charge is only temporary, and full charge is restored when returned to ambient temperatures.

Direct sunlight and temperatures over 115℉ cause OCS to reverse its polarity and release any odor it has collected.

Most vacuums are quite capable of holding 1-2 lbs. of OCS before changing bags, however some inexpensive upright residential vacuums may have weaker suction and cannot accept more than 1 lb. at a time. Don't be too concerned about picking up every bit of OCS. It will not harm the carpets. Leaving some crystals inside the carpet will control room odors 24 hours a day.

YES. OCS is a mineral with a negative ion charge. Odor gases that also have a negative ion charge, e.g., gasoline, chemicals, paint, etc., are not affected. Only the odors having a positive ion charge are absorbed by OCS, such as urine, vomit, mildew, smoke, garbage, all forms of decomposition, etc.

Don't worry about applying too much. The only problems you'll have is if you use less than the recommended amount. In that case, a second treatment would be necessary. Too much OCS won't hurt you, your carpet, or your upholstery, but over applying could be too much for your vacuum to handle. Should excessive dust cause breathing difficulty, move to fresh air.

"Cation Exchange" is a natural process, which occurs everywhere and all the time. It is a negative/positive exchange. You've heard the term: "Opposites Attract." That's exactly what occurs here. The OCS mineral has a strong negative ionic charge. The odors you want to eliminate have a strong positive ionic charge. If they are both in the same room environment, one must go to the other. It is a matter of physics and cannot be avoided. Since OCS is a heavy mineral, and since odors are light gases, which easily pass through the air, this irresistible attraction pulls the gases to the mineral where they are absorbed deep in to the tunnels and held there by magnetic force.

Independent laboratory testing measured the amount of positive ion charge in cat urine after daily deposits over seven days (approximately 3 billion charges.) Conclusion: 1 tablespoon of the crystals will eliminate all odors of daily cat urination up to a period of one week. Whenever possible, sprinkle directly on the source of the odor.

YES. Depending on the strength of the odors, eventually you may smell the odors in the OCS. You may regenerate the crystals by placing them in direct sunlight, or in temperatures over 155℉. The odors will begin releasing in to the air. When you can no longer smell odor in the crystals you may reuse them.

It's not that they "come back" as much as they "never went." The first OCS application removes the surface odors and, at face value, it appears that the odors are 100% gone. However, those odors which had become trapped inside latex, wood, or concrete were not removed and hence you will experience out-gassing.
