SEBO Airbelt D4 Product Review

SEBO Airbelt D4 Product Review

Today, we took our SEBO Airbelt D4 for a test drive on low, medium, and high-pile carpeting. Here's a breakout of what we thought.

SEBO Airbelt D4 Carrying Handle
Upon first glance, we noticed that a soft bumper encompassed the canister housing so that it protects desks, tables and chairs from unwanted scuffs or dents. Moreover, this soft bumper was encased in soft lycra; a synthetic fiber often used to design workout clothes, for a comfortable grip when using the carrying handle located on top of this model. This is a very unique feature not present on other canisters.

After we had finished fawning, we pulled out the 40 ft power cord neatly tucked away in the underside of the canister and plugged it into the wall. To turn on, we pressed a large circular power button located on the body of the vacuum. This immediately set a blue LED light into motion around the on/off switch. At first, we were amazed yet very confused as to why the blue LED light was spinning. Upon further testing, we deduced that the blue LED light is actually a suction power indicator. The higher the suction, the faster the light rotates. The lower the suction, the slower the light rotates. When you first turn on the vacuum, the suction power is at its highest setting. To turn down, simply press the minus sign located on the hose handle. This will surely come in handy when cleaning delicate drapes.

SEBO Airbelt D4 Powerhead
Equally perplexing was an orange light that sprang to life on the face of the power nozzle once we turned on the vacuum cleaner. After a few minutes of brainstorming, we realized that the orange light was there to alert us that we needed to change our height adjustment. On this model, a rotary dial is used to change to one of four settings. The highest is for high pile carpets while the lower settings are for low pile carpets. Once you adjust the dial to match the type of surface your vacuuming, the light will turn off. In our case, the warning light turned off once we turned the height adjustment dial to two. Why is this important? If your brushroll is too high you won’t be able to adequately agitate your carpet. On the other hand, if your brushroll is too low then you cut off airflow, which affects your vacuums overall performance. So make sure you’re mindful of that orange light!

Speaking of the brushroll, the SEBO Airbelt D4 comes with a number of bells and whistles that simplify brushroll maintenance and protects your bare floor surfaces from unwanted scuffs. First off, the ET-1 (12 inch width) and ET-2 (15-inch width) powerhead open on the left side so you can easily slide out the brush roll and strip away any pet hair or human hair weaved in-between the bristles. Second off, both powerheads (you have a choice between one or the other) comes with a manual brush shut off switch on the face of the power nozzle. When the switch is green, the brushroll is on. When the switch shows no color, the brushroll is off. This is handy when you need to transfer from high pile carpet to your kitchen tile. Moreover, this model comes with four non-marring wheels that should provide an extra peace of mind when cleaning those delicate surfaces of your home.

One notable feature of this SEBO canister vacuum is its incredible suction power. According to SEBO specifications, the Airbelt D series has a suction power of 1250 watts but yet the sound level is an ultra-quiet 63 dB. How can this be? Well, the D series was equipped with a 7 ft crushproof hose that is smaller in circumference near the power nozzle but wider at the canister body. This construction allows for unsurpassed suction each and every time you vacuum. No wonder why it cleaned our high-pile carpets so well! Moreover, the durable ABS plastic casing helps to insulate all noise emitted from the powerful one-stage motor. With this high grade exterior housing, you can save your hearing and ensure the longevity of your vacuum. In fact, most SEBO's serve a customer for 10 to 20 years. This is because the SEBO was designed to withstand some rough and tumble. For even more peace of mind, we can confidently tell you that all SEBO's are engineered in Germany and that the company is owned entirely by engineers. As we all know, Germany is known to manufacture some of the best products, and SEBO is no exception. If you trust SEBO, you will not just be making a purchase, you will be investing in your future.
