We've talked about the differences between Miele's C1, C2, and C3 series canister vacuum cleaners, but that post did not fully address the differences between each type of extension hose. Like all of Miele's products, these canister vacuum cleaner hoses are built to last. They are all constructed from durable, flexible plastic, but differences in length, wiring, and other features set them apart from one another.
Miele C1 Series Hoses

C1 series canister hoses are 64" long. They are compatible with Miele's detachable VarioClip, which grants the operator the option of storing tools right on board. The Miele Classic C1 Titan's SES116 canister hose is electric and can accommodate the SEB217-3 ElectroComfort power nozzle.
The C1 Capri and Olympus each use non-electric hoses, which are designed to hold straight-suction cleaner heads for easy bare floor cleaning. The non-electric C1 series hose does not have a connected handle, and must be latched in to the cleaning wand during assembly. Electric hoses in the C1 series onward are wired to their handles, and the two cannot be separated.
Miele C2 Series Hoses

Like those in the C1 series, Miele's C2 series hoses can hold a VarioClip for convenient accessory storage. C2series hoses, such as the Miele Topaz'sSES117, are 70" long and grant operators a little extra cleaning range. The SES117 is electric and can accommodate Miele's SEB217-3 ElectroComfort power nozzle. This electric hose's handle features an toggle switch that can quickly turn the vacuum on or off as needed.
Non-electric C2 series hoses, like the ones that come with Quartz and Onyx models, are intended for use with air-driven, straight-suction cleaner heads.
Miele C3 Series Hoses

The Miele SES121 C3 series hose is a 72" electric hose that can accommodate Miele's ElectroComfort, ElectroPlus, and ElectroPremium power nozzles. C3 series hoses are much sturdier than their C1 and C2 counterparts. This comes in handy while you're vacuuming because airflow won't be compromised even if the hose gets stepped on. This electric hose can also be attached to the C3 Alize and Calima models, which come with standard non-electric C3 series hoses.
The other option for C3 series hoses is the crushproof SES131 deluxe hose, compatible with the Miele Complete C3 Brilliant canister vacuum. The handle on this electric hose is complete with an LED display, suction control settings, and an on/off toggle switch.
