Electrolux Ergorapido Lithium Ion Plus Xtra Product Review

Electrolux Ergorapido Lithium Ion Plus Xtra Product Review

We took our spiffy red Electrolux Ergorapido Lithium Ion Plus Xtra for a spin on our low, medium and high-pile carpets to gauge how it performed. Read on below to hear what we thought.

Before we could test this cordless vacuum, we had to assemble the vacuum. To do that, we had to connect the handle to its corresponding lower body. In doing so, we had to make sure the cable connecting the two parts did not jam or break. To know if the two parts have been connected correctly, you should listen for a slightly audible click. After, you take the locking screw supplied by Electrolux and fit it onto the back of the handle. When the vacuum was all assembled, we stood the vacuum upright and admired its stunning red and silver finish. We all agreed that this color scheme was sleek, elegant, and polished.

After we had finished fawning, we decided to take our newly assembled cordless vacuum cleaner for a spin on our low-pile carpets. To operate, we pressed the on/off button located on the ergonomically designed handle, and the unit immediately sprung to life with four LED headlights comparable to the circumference of a No. 2 pencil eraser. In a few strokes, we unanimously agreed that this 5.5 pound battery-operated vacuum seemed to propel itself with its 180-degree swivel head. However, we felt that the same could not be said when testing on high-pile carpet. Nevertheless, despite the pile difference, this vacuum works extremely well, but you may need to exert a little extra force when cleaning plush carpets.

At one point during our testing, we decided to test out the button with the different bar widths located underneath the power button on the handle. This controls the speed of the brushroll. With just a press of the button, you can increase or decrease the speed depending on the surface you're cleaning. To vacuum our break room table, we had to detach the handheld vacuum from the rest of the unit. To do this, we pressed the release button located just above the handheld handle. The handheld was very lightweight and easy to use. For those hard to reach spots, we attached the crevice tool that came with this unit.

Once we were done vacuuming, we decided to clean the brushroll and empty out the dust cup. To clean the brushroll, you press on the Brushroll Clean Technology button located on the left side of the motor head. To empty out the dust cup, you simultaneously push inward on two black clamps as viewed in the image to the right. As a whole, this dust cup should be able to hold 0.4 dry quarts of debris before it needs to be emptied.

In total, this cordless vacuum has an operating time of 30 minutes. Our trial lasted about 20 minutes, which depleted the battery capacity to less than 25%. To keep track of when you need to recharge your unit, Electrolux has a set of four battery charge indicator lights located on the handheld of the vacuum. 3 orange lights indicate that the battery capacity is over 75%, 2 orange lights indicate that the battery capacity is between 75 and 50%, 1 orange light indicates that the battery capacity is at less than 25%, and 1 orange blinking light denotes that the battery has been depleted and must be recharged. To do that, we took out the 6 inch power cord and plugged it into a universal wall outlet. This caused the lights to blink in ascending order. When done charging, only one light blinked every minute.
